Job Summary
Work location: Tempe/Scottsdale area. Our Director, Compensation & Benefits will design, implement and support compensation and benefits programs which align to the organizational objectives, culture and budget. Develop and recommend new compensation structure (grades, ranges, base pay structure, job evaluation and benchmarking) as well as review/provide feedback on current sales compensation structure. Work with our benefits broker to evaluate, negotiate and administer healthcare and retirements plans which includes leading the consolidation of benefits programs in the US, as needed.


Essential Functions and Competencies


• Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs as well as ERISA governed programs.
• Strong Analytic skills; Exceptional excel skills; proficient in HRIS systems.
• MS Office Proficient: Powerpoint, Excel.
• Excellent business communication, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, along with a strong customer focus, excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate, design and recommend benefit and compensation programs based on market assessments and business strategy.
• Effective at broker and vendor management.
• Exceptional organizational skills and project management skills with strong attention to detail, follow-up and problem resolution.
• Ability to exercise discretion, keep items confidential and utilize independent judgement.
• Ability to work with detailed information accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent knowledge of employment benefit laws, compliance requirements and legal reporting requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Client service-driven towards internal clients and external vendors.
• Hands-on experience with benefit billings and accounting for benefits.
• Unbiased judgement, sound discretion and openness to the views of others.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, including the ability to interact with people in a manner which conveys sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
• Flexible and dependable; including the ability to travel to other company locations which may include International travel as needed.
• This is a hands-on role, and the Director, like all firm Directors, is expected to not only manage the required processes and team members but also to work as part of the team and execute tasks directly as needed.
• Demonstrated ability in executing annual compensation and bonus programs for a large workforce (600+).
Qualifications / Education / Experience

• Set the organization’s pay structure and benefits offerings.
• Act as compensation and benefits SME. Consult and partner with leadership, finance and HRBPs to identify, understand and address issues related to compensation and benefits; influence stakeholder effectively.
• Lead the compensation planning and review process, which includes creating guidelines on market data and innovative processes. Determine competitive wage rates and recommend modifications to the company’s compensation plans.
• Plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to be responsive to the company’s goals and competitive practices.
• Prepare job descriptions, job analysis, job evaluation and job classifications. Keep abreast of federal, state and local compensation and health benefit laws/regulations in order to ensure compliance.
• Support the review and administration of sales compensation programs.
• Manage the company’s executive compensation programs. Assist in the preparation of the company’s annual Compensation and Discussion Analysis.
• Manages the annual administration of bonus payments for all key employee, including the calculation, and communication preparation. Assist in the design and communication of the quarterly incentive plan. Evaluate employee benefits programs to assess whether they are current, competitive and legal. Evaluate and ensure through audits, legal reports and personal interactions that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
• Manage relationships with benefit plan consultants, brokers, trustees and/or administrators. Monitor administrative service level agreements and administrative fees. Choose and maintain outside partners such as benefits vendors. Manage the administration of all benefits programs, reconcile issues and audit the compensation/benefits for accuracy.
• Ensure that all health and welfare benefit plans are administered in conformance with company policies and procedures, plan documentation, contractual arrangements, and regulatory requirements (ERISA, DOL, IRS, HIPAA, FMLA, ADEA, ADA, other federal state and local laws, etc.).
• Develop specifications for new benefit plans or modify existing benefit plans to maintain the company’s competitive position in the market. Evaluate vendor quotations and make recommendations to management regarding sharing of cost between employer and employee. Implement approved, new plan changes by preparing announcement materials and other media materials for communicating new plans to employees.

• 7+ years progressively responsible experience in compensation and benefits
• Experience with Sales compensation programs a plus.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Mathematics or Human Resources required. MBA not required, but is a plus.
• Professional certifications in CCP, CEBS, GBA, PHR/SPHR, are preferred but not required.
