Job Summary
Lark RF Technology (a Benchmark Company) is hiring an RF Design Engineer in Phoenix, AZ. Lark RF Technology is building an Engineering Design Center of Excellence in Phoenix, AZ. This design center will provide EW and radio infrastructure for our customers in the military and telecommunications market segments; growing to greater than 100 people in about 2 years.

Essential Functions and Competencies

•Hands-on RF/Microwave/mmWave design experience and testing/debugging of building blocks like amplifiers, mixers, filters, PLLs, etc. in the frequency range of 1-100 GHz.
•Experience with RX/TX cascade analysis, link budget analysis, PCB layout tools and techniques of RF System/Subsystem designs at the Integrated Microwave Assembly (IMA) and/or RFIC/MMIC level.
•Expertise in at least one circuit/system simulator and EM Solver tool: ADS, MWO, Genesys, MATLAB/Simulink, SystemVue, CST, HFSS, SONNET, FEKO, etc.
•Experience selecting and connecting power management components (regulators, bias circuits, etc…) for supply of RF system designs along with developing control circuitry for RF system designs.
•Experience preparing and delivering status presentations of debug investigations and design tradeoffs in a concise manner.
•Demonstrated leadership ability, team-building mindset, and ability to communicate complex ideas in an easy to understand manner.
•Experience mentoring RF entry level engineers, less experienced RF designers, and engineering interns.
•Must be self-motivated and willing to “do what it takes” to get the job done.
•Synthesizer, VCO, Phase Noise suppression, and LO path spur mitigation depth is a plus.
•Data converter experience/knowledge is a plus.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
This role will work with cutting edge EW and radio technologies for military and commercial wireless applications. They’ll be responsible for radio subsystem level analysis and modeling, coordinating design at the block or component level and ensuring compliance to subsystem level specifications. This role is about providing innovative design solutions for EW and wireless products. Working with peers in the RF and High Speed Design team, this person will:
•Be the voice of the customer: interpret customer specifications and perform the necessary analysis and simulations to guarantee full compliance.
•Identify emerging solutions that can be integrated into project designs early in the design cycle to enhance performance.
•Lead design reviews and oversee the project development while continuously optimizing for maximum specification margin through the entire design cycle. Focus will be on linear and non-linear block level design or component selection, how these pieces fit into the RF subsystem, and how the control circuitry interacts with each block and the RF subsystem as a whole. Must demonstrate working knowledge of RF impairments and their impact on system performance. Performed independent research for feasibility studies of novel structures to determine best design course of action. Work experience with phased array antennas and systems is a plus. Work experience with radar systems and transmit-receive modules is a plus. Previous experience managing > 5 engineers is a plus Masters or PhD level Electrical Engineering Degree is preferred, with at least 15 years of hands-on industry experience in radio building blocks or RF subsystem design
