Job Summary
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for all processes, materials and products. This will occur in an ISO13485 (Medical) and AS9100 (Aerospace) regulatory environment, specializing in Design & Development. Position requires the ability to assist the Design Team with required documentation for all design phase gates. Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO13485, ISO14644-1, ISO class 7 cleanroom, ANSI ESD S 20.20, and customer requirements relating to the J-STD-001, Space addendum. This position will work exclusively with the design team as (SME) regarding regulatory required documentation for aerospace as it relates to design outputs.

Qualifications / Education / Experience

• Implement and maintain a quality management system (QMS) by flowing down customer/government quality clauses & requirements into internal procedures, i.e. a sustainable QMS that supports Business Unit objectives via ISO 9001/AS 9100 certifications.
• Review Engineering Orders and participate in new design product/design review in order to ensure quality requirements are identified and captured in appropriate documentation.
• Develop, prepare and implement Quality Program Plans for new and existing customers and products.
• Function as primary liaison for various customers in order to resolve quality issues, ensure appropriate flow down of quality requirements, enable positive channels of communication, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Represent Quality Engineering on new product development teams and smoothly transition new designs into production.
• Utilize engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA, and DFMA to validate design content.
• Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
• Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
• Develops and applies advanced Quality Engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the development of products
• Establishment and maintenance of quality assurance/control policies, procedures and methods
• Develops sampling plans, quality standards and quality control instructions to be utilized by manufacturing
• Assist with developing and publishing first article inspection report documentation per AS9102.
• Tests and inspects in assessing the quality levels of products and processes per customer requirements and AS9100.
• Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials
• Reviews corrective actions recommended on audit reports for adequacy and to maintain a continuing awareness of quality problems.
• Conducts investigations of considerable complexity pertaining to the manufacture of new products
• Establishment of new processes or resolution of complex product quality problems
• May provide technical guidance to lower level engineers, technicians and inspectors
• Quarantines, documents and evaluates products and materials
• Ensures control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained.
• Monitors and reports on quality-related key performance indicators
• Ensures compliance and assists with adherence to quality management system
• Ability to lead strategic quality initiatives; ASQ certification; Master of advanced technologies and applications
• Able to travel up to 20% of the time, including day, overnight and internationally as required 4 year Engineering or Technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
